HOA Defense Kit was inspired by a fight — and built into a business to help homeowners everywhere.

When our community was blindsided by a $24,777 special assessment per household—backed by a $4 million loan that threatened to burden 160 families—we felt what so many homeowners feel: powerless, overwhelmed, and outmatched by a board hiding behind rules and legal threats.

The Challenge

The board insisted there was no other way. They counted on confusion, intimidation, and delay to push the assessment through. Most of our neighbors were ready to give up, believing there was nothing they could do.

The Fight

We refused to accept it. With a small group leading the effort — designing flyers, mapping outreach, speaking at meetings, and organizing petitions — homeowners rallied behind a clear strategy. It wasn’t easy—there were setbacks, misinformation campaigns, even threats of legal action. But persistence and planning carried the day.

The Victory

The assessment was defeated. The loan was stopped. Families kept their savings.

And then we took it one step further.

The same strategies we later built into HOA Defense Kit were used to stage a recall election, rally neighbors, put forward new candidates, and win.
